Management Couple | Chobe National Park | Luxury Lodges

We are looking for experienced MANAGEMENT COUPLE (Maintenance and Lodge Management) to join the team of two luxury lodges located in Chobe National Park in Botswana. These appointments require each individual to have set skills or qualifications in different areas. One partner will be responsible for maintenance duties (Building, solar, boreholes, etc) and vehicles, ensuring guide training, while the other partner takes charge of housekeeping, stock control, the kitchen, and finances – thereby effectively covering all bases.

Must be willing to work independently at either lodge, when required and used to working in remote areas.

Key functions:
  • Lodge Operations
  • Systems upgrade and implementation where needed
  • Cost control & stock control

  • maintenance – preventative and needed
  • staff training where required
  • team building & creating sense of unity
  • to take on responsibility for the overall management of all operational, maintenance and admin of two lodges
  • To ensure guests & owner expectations are exceeded, teams are trained and developed and management of company assets.
Requirements:
  • Strong Leadership qualities and excellent communication skills that fit within the company ethos – firm but fair and respectful to all staff, LEAD BY EXAMPLE
  • Ability to perform duties with results and accountability.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations, challenging guests, staffing issue and problem solve
  • Forecasting & planning staffing to meet occupancies, off day rotations and communication to be done with HR Department & Owners as required
  • Strong administration and record keeping
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in management of utilities and maintenance, etc. issues, especially in solar, boreholes, vehicles, and generators.
  • Experience of compiling budgets (where needed) and using financial and statistical information to guide the team and drive the business
  • Understands cultural issues involved and the requirements for a happy team
  • Staff – strong knowledge of labour laws and implementation of rules and regulations, job descriptions, training & mentoring, skills development & productivity in staff and positive work environment for all concerned – managing teams (both Lodges) through regular meetings, objective setting, appraisals, and regular feedback – this to be done in conjunction with our HR Department
  • Asset management and maintenance, setting up of systems specifically for the improvement of asset management.
  • SOP Manual Preparing & Implementing Standard operating procedures & system controls in all areas of management of the two properties.
  • Attention to detail / High level of observations skills
  • Good all-round experience of Food & Beverage service, Front of house, housekeeping, etc.
  • Strong IT experience – MS Office suite as well as additional knowledge of ResRequest (Property Side is Highly beneficial)
  • Preparing and sending of weekly / monthly reports to head office
  • Good command of English
  • Very good fitness level – there is a lot of walking involved on uneven surfaces
Start: ASAP, subject to visa
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
  • Certificates / Diplomas in the Hospitality Management or Technical
  • Experience in managing lodges as a couple
  • Solid experience with contactable references
Package:
  • Salary will be discussed with the shortlisted candidates
  • Accommodation and meals provided
  • Working cycle 3 months on 28 days off
  • Regrettably, no children and no pets allowed
  • Visa and joining flight to Botswana (or petrol paid if using own vehicle)
  • 13th Cheque upon completion of each year with excellent performance review
