Marketing and Travel Specialist | Kylami | Travel Agency

We are looking for experienced MARKETING AND TRAVEL SPECIALIST to join the team of an agency offering luxury travel solutions in Africa.

This is hybrid work model – enjoy the flexibility of working on-site and remotely for part of the week. Once training is complete, we would need the successful candidate in the office in Kylami, Johannesburg on Mon, Tue & Wed from 08h30 to 16h00.

The ideal candidate must have in-depth knowledge of Southern African Safaris / luxury holiday destinations and have been on extensive educational and familiarisation trips to luxury properties. The candidate will also need to have working knowledge of digital marketing to curate attractive newsletters/flyers, SEO Copywriting, social media management and other marketing tasks. You will be an important part of a small dynamic team and must be passionate about delivering exceptional service.

  • Minimum 5-years’ experience in the African Safari Space
  • Excellent command first language English (both written and verbal)
  • Well-travelled individual, across southern Africa and East Africa
  • Passion and understanding of southern Africa and East Africa high end accommodations
  • WordPress experience advantageous
  • Social media planning advantageous
  • SEO & Digital copywriting

Travel specialist portion:

  • Preparing attractive quotations and itineraries that complement individual client expectations and budgets.
  • Effectively actioning the travel booking process at all levels (including booking hotel rooms, car rentals, lodges etc. as per customer confirmation)
  • Plan, design and sell life-changing trips to Africa, assisting our clients in making the most informed buying choice possible.
  • Providing customer support before, during and after travel, ensuring clients are happy
  • Work with external suppliers on a regular basis via telephone and email communication to ensure all aspects of the booking from the supplier end is organised and resolved.

 Marketing Specialist portion:

  • Good understanding of SEO practices
  • Website management & development essential (WordPress)
  • Digital copywriting to create blogs, update listings, creating copy for flyers
  • Building and curating weekly flyers
  • Rates contracting through our various suppliers
  • Updating of rates and packages on our filing system as well as the website
  • We have recently signed up with a new CRM system, Pipedrive. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing this
  • Obtaining of Bednights from our Suppliers and the monitoring thereof
Benefits & working hours
  • Earn an attractive remuneration package including a competitive base salary, a commission structure and 20 days of paid leave per year.
  • Fam Trips / Educational travel from time to time
  • The working hours when working from home are 08h30 to 17h00
  • Our Team shares the responsibility of replying to enquiries over a weekend (from home). We work on a roster basis and are currently working one in five weekends. This involves sending out quotes to anyone enquiring over a weekend. Generally, the Team member will check their emails once on a Sat morning and afternoon and again on a Sunday morning & afternoon. There is a couple of hours per weekend involved.
