Baker | Cape Town | Boutique Hotel & Restaurant
We’re seeking a dedicated and accomplished BAKER to join the culinary team at a new boutique hotel opening in Mouille Point, Cape Town. The hotel’s restaurant will showcase modern Greek and contemporary Mediterranean cuisine, complemented by artisanal breads and baked goods to elevate the guest experience.
This role requires expertise, consistency, and creativity, with proven ability in bread-making, laminated doughs, and Mediterranean-inspired bakery items. Success will depend on strong teamwork, precision, and attention to detail to deliver excellence across both hotel and restaurant service.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bread expertise in artisanal loaves, sourdough, brioche, and flatbreads
- Viennoiserie skills including croissants, pain au chocolat, and laminated doughs
- Mediterranean bakery knowledge such as pita, focaccia, koulouri, and olive bread
- Premium dining background preferred, with strong presentation and culinary discipline
- Ability to manage a bakery section independently while supporting the Sous Chef and Head Chef
Key Responsibilities
- Bread production: Prepare daily artisanal breads and baked goods for hotel and restaurant service
- Quality control: Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation across all bakery items
- Menu contribution: Collaborate with the culinary team to design bakery offerings aligned with the Greek-Mediterranean concept
- Inventory management: Monitor stock levels, ingredients, and production schedules
- Innovation: Introduce creative bakery items and seasonal specialties
- Event support: Provide bespoke baked goods for hotel events, banquets, and private dining
Salary
- R12 – 15 000, depending on experience and skills – no additional benefits
