F&B Manager | Nairobi – Kenya | Upmarket Restaurant Group

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic F&B MANAGER to oversee the portfolio of high-end restaurants and cafes in Nairobi, Kenya.

The successful candidate will possess a degree/diploma in hospitality management, have hands-on working experience in restaurants/hotels, and be well-versed in culinary trends from around the world. The ideal candidate will have pre-opening and project management skills, be able to lead a team, drive a positive working culture, and ensure exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead and manage a team of over 200 employees across multiple restaurants and cafes
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work culture that promotes teamwork, innovation, and customer satisfaction
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members
Culinary Excellence
  • Research and understand culinary trends from around the world to create innovative and exciting menus
  • Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure the highest quality of food and beverage offerings
  • Oversee menu engineering and pricing strategies to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction
Operations and Financial Management
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the restaurants and cafes, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities
  • Develop and implement financial reports, including sales, profit and loss, and inventory management
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including health and safety standards
Customer Experience
  • Ensure exceptional customer experience through personalized service, attention to detail, and prompt resolution of customer complaints
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the restaurants and cafes, including social media and local advertising
Pre-Opening and Project Management
  • Assist in the development and implementation of pre-opening plans for new restaurants and cafes
  • Coordinate with architects, designers, and contractors to ensure that the restaurants and cafes are built to specifications
  • Manage the logistics of opening a new restaurant or cafe, including hiring, training, and inventory management
PR and Community Relations
  • Develop and implement PR strategies to promote the restaurants and cafes, including media outreach and community events
  • Build and maintain relationships with employees, customers, and the local community
Requirements Education and Qualifications
  • Degree/diploma in hospitality management or a related field
Experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an assistant F&B manager role.
  • Proven track record of success in managing high-end restaurants and cafes
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with employees, customers, and the local community
  • Strong knowledge of culinary trends and menu engineering
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Micros and other relevant software
