Supervisor – Role Overview
As the Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, maintaining high service standards, and supporting the team in delivering exceptional guest experiences. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will balance staff management, customer engagement, and operational oversight. You will act as the bridge between the frontline team and senior management, ensuring that the coffee shop runs efficiently while creating a welcoming environment for both staff and guests. The Supervisor will play a pivotal role in shaping the culture of the shop, fostering teamwork, and ensuring that every cup of coffee served reflects the brand’s promise of quality and consistency.
Supervisor – Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Supervise baristas, waitstaff, and support staff. Provide guidance, training, and motivation to ensure consistent performance. Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism and enthusiasm in every shift.
- Customer Experience: Engage with guests, resolve issues promptly, and maintain a welcoming atmosphere that reflects premium coffee culture. Build rapport with regular customers and ensure new guests feel valued.
- Operational Oversight: Manage daily floor operations, including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and service flow. Ensure smooth coordination between the kitchen and front-of-house.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, coordinate with suppliers, and ensure availability of coffee, food, and beverage items. Prevent shortages and minimize wastage.
- Quality Control: Uphold standards in product presentation, hygiene, and safety compliance. Conduct regular checks to maintain consistency in taste and service.
- Scheduling & Rostering: Prepare staff schedules to balance efficiency with fair workload distribution. Adjust rosters to meet peak demand periods.
- Training & Development: Conduct ongoing training in customer service, product knowledge, and operational procedures. Encourage staff growth and career progression.
- Financial Awareness: Support management in monitoring sales, controlling costs, and achieving profitability targets. Provide input on promotions and upselling strategies.
- Brand Representation: Ensure staff presentation and service reflect the coffee shop’s premium identity. Act as an ambassador for the brand in every interaction.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory role within hospitality, retail, or food service. Previous coffee shop or café experience is advantageous.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.
- Attributes: Detail-oriented, approachable, and proactive in problem solving. A natural motivator who inspires confidence in the team.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Adaptability to changing operational needs.
