Job Description

Floor Managers | Restaurant Group

An expanding hospitality group is seeking high-energy, professional FLOOR MANAGERS to join their teams in Bryanston and Parkhurst.

The group requires leaders who thrive in high-volume, premium environments and are committed to maintaining world-class service standards.

Floor Managers Role Overview

The Floor Manager is the heartbeat of the restaurant during service. This role demands a constant, visible presence on the floor, ensuring the smooth flow of the dining room, coordinating between the kitchen and front-of-house, and guaranteeing that every guest receives attentive, personalized service. It is a hands-on leadership position focused on operational fluidity, staff performance, and guest satisfaction.

Floor Managers are expected to embody the brand’s ethos of premium hospitality, balancing operational control with guest engagement. They must be able to anticipate challenges, resolve issues in real time, and inspire their teams to deliver consistently excellent service.

Floor Managers Key Responsibilities
  • Service Leadership: Lead the floor team during busy shifts, ensuring seamless service delivery and guest satisfaction. Maintain visibility and authority throughout service.
  • Staff Coordination: Supervise waitstaff, runners, and hostesses, ensuring all sections are managed efficiently and staff remain motivated.
  • Guest Experience: Handle guest inquiries and feedback in real time with professionalism and a guest-first attitude. Build rapport with regular clientele.
  • Operational Standards: Enforce strict adherence to grooming, service protocols, and health and safety regulations. Maintain impeccable presentation across all service areas.
  • Opening & Closing: Manage daily opening and closing procedures, including cash-ups, shift handovers, and operational readiness.
  • Training & Development: Assist in ongoing coaching and development of the floor team to maintain high service standards and encourage career growth.
  • Operational Flow: Coordinate table turns, pacing of service, and communication between kitchen and floor to ensure efficiency.
  • Problem Resolution: Address operational or guest-related challenges swiftly, maintaining composure and professionalism under pressure.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or floor management role within a high-turnover, premium restaurant environment.
  • Skill Set: Strong communication skills, decisive leadership, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Passion for Hospitality: Deep understanding of premium service etiquette, particularly within steakhouse or Mediterranean dining styles.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competence in point-of-sale systems (e.g., Gaap, Micros) and table management software.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, guest-focused, and resilient in fast-paced service environments.
  • Leadership Style: Hands-on, energetic, and visible leader who thrives on the floor rather than behind a desk.
Remuneration & Growth
  • Salary Package: ZAR 15–20k GROSS, depending on experience.
  • Career Growth: Significant opportunities for advancement as the group continues its expansion.
  • Dynamic Environment: Work within a vibrant, premium hospitality culture that values innovation and excellence.
