OPS Manager – Café Franchise | DRC

An international café and bakery franchise in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, is seeking a Dynamic OPS MANAGER to lead multi‑unit operations across several high‑volume outlets. This role is ideal for senior hospitality professionals who excel in operational excellence, team leadership, training system development, and quality control within fast‑paced food service environments. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of a well‑established brand while developing local Congolese talent through structured training programs and competency‑based development pathways.

2‑Year Renewable Contract

Role Overview of the OPS Manager

The OPS Manager oversees daily operational performance, profitability, and brand consistency across multiple restaurant, bakery, pastry, and café units. The role is divided into 60% field operations and 40% administrative and strategic responsibilities, ensuring smooth coordination between kitchen, bakery, pastry, service, stewarding, and management teams. The successful candidate will implement standardized processes, drive operational discipline, and maintain high hospitality standards across all outlets.

Key Responsibilities of the OPS Manager

  • Multi‑unit operations management across restaurant, bakery, pastry, and kitchen divisions
  • Ensure strict adherence to brand standards, food safety, hygiene, and operational discipline
  • Conduct structured operational audits, performance reviews, and corrective action plans
  • Standardize SOPs and operational processes to ensure consistency and scalability
  • Oversee inventory management, supply chain coordination, cost control, recipe costing, and waste reduction
  • Ensure full compliance with HACCP, sanitation protocols, and DRC regulatory requirements
  • Design and implement structured training systems for local Congolese staff across all departments
  • Build competency frameworks, certification pathways, and measurable promotion criteria
  • Coordinate knowledge transfer with expat chefs, department heads, and restaurant managers
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and team development in collaboration with HR
  • Oversee maintenance programs, equipment functionality, and facility readiness
  • Monitor daily sales performance, food cost, beverage cost, labor cost, and operational expenses
  • Lead weekly meetings with department heads and ensure follow‑up on action plans
  • Support seasonal planning, special events, and new outlet openings
Qualifications required from the OPS Manager
  • 7+ years of multi‑unit restaurant operations experience
  • Strong background in training system design and developing local teams
  • Experience in premium casual dining or bakery‑café concepts preferred
  • Proven ability to implement structured processes in emerging markets
  • Experience working in Africa or similar environments strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and organizational design skills
  • French language proficiency required
  • Open to any nationality
Compensation & Benefits for the OPS Manager
  • Salary: USD 2750 – 3750 NET per month (adjustable for exceptional candidates)
  • Accommodation provided by the employer (single or double apartment)

  • 30–32 days annual paid leave
  • Round‑trip flights, visa, and work permit fully provided

Contract

Standard 2‑year renewable contract. All visa and administrative processes are fully handled by the employer.
