Private Head Chef | Johannesburg | Exclusive Residence
An exceptional opportunity for an experienced PRIVATE HEAD CHEF to join a prestigious private residence in Johannesburg. The position suits a chef with a strong background in private households and a passion for healthy, seasonal, and balanced cuisine. The successful candidate will prepare daily meals for the Residents, deliver refined dining experiences for guests, and manage all aspects of the kitchen with professionalism and discretion.
Start Date: July/August 2026
Employment Type: Permanent
Salary: will be discussed with shortlisted candidates
Accommodation: Option available if required
Household: 2 Adults
Key Responsibilities
- Daily meal preparation focused on nutritious, family-style dining
- Menu planning and sourcing using fresh, seasonal ingredients and local produce
- Formal dining and entertaining for guests and special occasions
- Kitchen management including stock control, hygiene, and supplier coordination
- Food garden integration and sustainable menu planning
- Team coordination with household management and service staff
Candidate Profile
- 8 -10 years’ experience as a chef, ideally within private households or luxury estates
- Proven ability to deliver both informal family meals and formal dining experiences
- Strong understanding of nutrition and balanced meal planning
- Excellent organisational skills, calm under pressure, and discreet in service
- Flexible to work evenings and weekends as required
Additional Information
- Standard South African leave entitlements apply
- 45-hour work week; senior staff may work additional hours when Residents are in residence
- Only South African citizens or candidates with existing work rights in South Africa will be considered
